Who We Are

A church family sharing the love of Jesus Christ from one generation to the next.

Montesoma Baptist

1887

Founded

Over a Century of Faithful Community

Our congregation first gathered for worship in 1848 and was formally established in 1887. After much prayer, the deacons chose the site where we still worship today. First known as Montezuma, the church became known as Montesoma during the late 1960s and 1970s, honoring an early pastor and his wife.

As the congregation grew, a larger church building replaced the original in 1906. Our present building was completed in 1966 through the hard work and faithful service of those who came before us. In 2026, the church and fellowship hall received a grant from the Muscogee Nation for renovations.

Today, through Sunday School, Discipleship, Brotherhood, WMU, and Music, we continue to study God’s Word, grow in faith, and serve our neighbors. Our purpose remains to share the hope of Jesus Christ with our community.

Our Faith & Values

Scripture

We believe the Bible is the inspired, unfailing Word of God and the trustworthy authority for our faith, our lives, and the life of the church.

Grace

We believe salvation is a gift of God’s grace, received through faith in Jesus Christ. His grace is the foundation of who we are and everything we do.

Community

We believe God calls us to grow in faith together. As the church, we are called to love our neighbors, encourage one another, and bear one another’s burdens.

Prayer

We believe God calls us to pray with faith and confidence, trusting that He hears us and answers according to His will. Through prayer, we give thanks, bring our needs before Him, and seek His guidance.

Welcome

We welcome everyone — whether you have followed Christ for years, have questions about faith, or are finding your way back. We invite you to worship with us, hear God’s Word, and discover the hope found in Jesus Christ.

Stewardship

We believe all we have belongs to God. Our time, abilities, resources, and land are entrusted to our care, and we seek to use them faithfully for His glory and the good of our neighbors.
